Where can I find a copy of the Harris Interactive survey of how people are using online answer sites?

TechCrunch reported that Yahoo! released the Harris Interactive survey of how people are using online answer sites, such as this one. I checked Harris and Yahoo!, but I can't find the full report. Anyone know where it might be? Thanks.

Accused of plagiarism without enrolling in the course?

I am a graduate student and will graduate in december. I am about to start my master project in summer. In order to chose the project topic, I used to approach various professors so that the topic can be finalized. In this process, I submitted the proposal (ideas were taken from techcrunch) to one of my professors. Since, the ideas were taken from techcrunch, the professor accused me of doing plagiarism and reported me to the department.

I wanted to know that the professor didn't give me any guidelines to submit the proposal and also, I am enrolled to the particular course. How can I be charged of plagiarism?

As a note, since I was not enrolled in the course, I only got a formal warning.

Accused of plagiarism without enrolling in the course?
You should have original ideas, not ideas you found on the web.
Reply:Wow that was harsh! He def should have given you a warning before he notified the department, a second chance to write the proposal and a warning would have sufficed. Change classes if you can i think he has it in for you!!! Although do have original ideas, plagiarism is when you try to assume to the reader that your idea was only yours and not someone else's, so own your ideas or reference them!

YouTube proxy that can(bypass proxy+download video behinf its own proxy )?

The net in my college has blocked youtube, and i cant watch videos behind a proxy coz they disabled flash plug in.

so what i want is a site that work as proxy(like tubeoxy .com) and download (like techcrunch.com/get_you_tube_movie) that can download videos behind its own proxy at the same time..

if there is none can u give me a youtube download site that can download videos behind other site 's proxy or vice versa.

I tried it on techcrunch by tubeoxy and the result was:

http://www.surfingarena.com/?__new_url=a...

But when i submit the real url of a youtube video the box dissapear

If u can get me one i can design a program that does this whole trick automatically ,,and might send it to you!!!

YouTube proxy that can(bypass proxy+download video behinf its own proxy )?
I update this list almost daily. These proxies work for me, no guarantee that they will work for you. I test these proxies everyday to see if they have been blocked by Websense just yet. I do not know if these proxies allow certain actions to be taken. (Example: Edit your myspace with html and save it without running into the captcha over and over.) (Another example: Go to the next page in a sequence of pages. i.e.: Bulletins on myspace)

What do you think about the new FaceBook Beacon project ?

Do you think the new FaceBook Beacon project is too much invading into your online privacy?

Do you like FaceBook publishing your internet surfing habits to your profile, through the new thing called 'FaceBook Beacon" ?

Have you heard about Yahoo's new blog thing called mash?

http://www.techcrunch.com/2007/09/14/yah...

I think the layout of it sucks and it looks a bit complicated too. I think they should keep 360 and just fix what they got. So many people have worked so hard on their 360 and to have to eventually switch would be a massive headache.

Well what are your thoughts on it?

Have you heard about Yahoo's new blog thing called mash?
They were going to name it mosh and went with mash instead? What idiots. Mosh is a far better word. All of the layout sucks, you're right. I think yahoo is sucking more every day.
Reply:yup, i checked it out already, i hope yahoo will still keep the 360 and be considerate enough on thier users.
Reply:I haven't heard until now. I'll go check it out.

Edit: I read the article and I don't like it. I hope they stick to 360 or at least keep 360.
Reply:aahhh, mash.....if dey want me goin on about sumtin beysides armey showz den dey betta name it sumtin else!

(sry im in such a "Hindu" accent mood rite now....i assume its Hindu, thats how Apu from "the simpsons" sounds.)even tho im actually thinkin about the native lady from "dead mans chest" "pirates of carribean".
Reply:i love 360, made a mash and hate it ugh

How many users do Yahoo and Google toolbar and popular firefox plugins have?

I am specifically interested in getting an idea of the number of users who download these things directly, since Yahoo! and Google toolbars come bundled with other things like Y! messenger and firefox. I am basically interested in getting an idea of the number of users who would be open to installing add-ons to their browser and feel that these would give me a reasonable idea. It has been hard to find this on techcrunch and other similar sites, and I would greatly appreciate pointers that address this question.

Thanks,

Vijay

How many users do Yahoo and Google toolbar and popular firefox plugins have?
Some numbers from download.com:

Google Toolbar IE: 3,522,759

Google Toobar Firefox: 31,247

Yahoo Toolbar: 1,395,536

For comparison, Adobe Reader has 34,856,330 downloads.

Here's a comparison for the volumes of Google searches: http://www.google.com/trends?q=google+to...

Usually toolbars are associated with spyware, software bundles, but if you already have some popular services, a toolbar can increase the number of visits and expose more options to your users.
Reply:I install both Yahoo and Google toolbar in my computer at home. I think many yahoo and google visitors install one of them. These toolbars you mention are all good toolbars.

I heard that Yahoo 360 is being replaced by a new site called "Mosh". Any have any details?

Saw this article: http://www.techcrunch.com/2007/07/08/mos...

"Here’s a juicy tip - we’ve been hearing about a new Yahoo social network initiative called Mosh, which is at mosh.yahoo.com but can only be accessed from inside the Yahoo offices."

Anybody know anything about this?

I heard that Yahoo 360 is being replaced by a new site called "Mosh". Any have any details?
i read it and bookmarked it but i really don't think it

will come true.but i will keep my ears open and spread the word about it.
Reply:Please, anyone could send me a invitation to Yahoo! Mosh to this e-mail: luisfos7[at]yahoo.com

Thank you!

Is YouTube Robot legal?

I heard about This Devise (YouTube Robot) and i was wondering if its even legal?

cause there have been alot of reports (on forum sites) that Youtube staff emailed alot of people telling them That they did something illegal with other Youtube converters.

i need to know so if i do download it i know i shouldnt expect an email from youtube staff...

Look Here-

http://www.techcrunch.com/2006/11/15/huh...

I DONT WANT AN EMAIL LIKE THIS!!!

please help me

*cries* T-T

Is YouTube Robot legal?
Downloading people's videos without their consent is "stealing". I know I do that a lot but I don't download them for profit or anything.

If you haven't already noticed, at the bottom of the YouTube Robot page, it says:

"Important: YouTube Robot is intended for use as a personal archiving tool only. Please respect the rights of the copyright holders of any material you get."

It means that it is, in one way or another, illegal to do but just as long as you don't use that video to redistribute or take credit for, then I guess you'll be fine.

YouTube sends those e-mails to people who made those YouTube downloaders/converters... not the users.

So I guess you don't have to worry about getting that sort of e-mail.
Reply:Thanks, and you're welcome. :) Report It

Reply:Contact youtube and ask them this.

When does a pro-increasing immigration body not endorse a candidate getting 74% of member vote? Ron Paul?

http://www.centredaily.com/business/tech...

Initially TechCrunch polled its members for an endorsement, but not liking the result on the Republican side, gave the endorsement to McCain, instead. They looked at those who wanted to increase H1B visas and globalization, specifically.

Oh, for Dems, Obama was the Democratic winner.

"The TechCrunch primary poll captured 15,734 votes. The results by candidate are as follows:

Democrats

Barack Obama 61% of votes

John Edwards 26% of votes

Mike Gravel 7% of votes

Hillary Clinton 6% of votes

Republicans

Ron Paul 74% of votes

John McCain 16% of votes

Mike Huckabee 5% of votes

Mitt Romney 3% of votes

Rudy Giuliani 1% of votes"

What do you think of this?

When does a pro-increasing immigration body not endorse a candidate getting 74% of member vote? Ron Paul?
Just one more example of an obvious bias against Ron Paul. It sucks.
Reply:Because online polls are notoriously easy to manipulate and the results are meaningless. Remember when all the Howard Stern fans voted in People Magazine's Most Beautiful Person online poll, and Hank the Angry Drunken Dwarf came out on top? The fact that Paul's supporters flooded the site doesn't mean he has support from real voters.

How can I get more votes?

I'm trying to win a pass to South by Southwest Interactive Festival (SXSW).

At TechCrunch, vote for Lena to win a pass to SXSW.

Network with all your friends, use your address book and ask people to vote for you.
Reply:I just voted for you, try posting on IMDB message boards like the sandbox. those ppl are pretty good about doin that kind of stuff at random lol.
Reply:do sweet things. Make sure the people now that there 1 VOTE STILL COUNTS! be sweet and DO NOT go rushing from person to person. make small talk, DO NOT speak all about ur thing. Just 2 lines and quick bye.

What is the best way to advertise a request for help?

I entered a contest at one of my favorite blogs, TechCrunch, to win a free pass to SXSW Interactive (SXSW). I am one of seven people who now have a chance to get the pass.

TechCrunch writes, "Last Saturday I wrote a post to give away a free pass to the SXSW Interactive conference in Austin this March. I asked interested people to leave a comment on the post describing why they want the pass, and what they think they will get out of the conference. Requests had to be in by midnight last night, and I am now presenting the seven applications that I think are the best for a vote. I am running this poll until midnight Friday PST."

Lena really wants to go to SXSW

Thoughts how to go about marketing or advertising something on a short deadline?

What is the best way to advertise a request for help?
I would recommend Craigslist. You can post items (usually for free or a small fee) for your given locale. If you need help, there's a help wanted section. Just go to craigslist and click on the city that's closest to where you are located and go from there.

I set up alerts on yahoo messenger for RSS feeds from digg and techcrunch.?

It worked fine for couple of days and then the yahoo messenger stopped displaying the alerts. When I went to alerts.yahoo.com I could see that they are set properly i.e., to alert me if there are any changes. The alerts.yahoo.com also displays the new links with the current feed from these two websites but for some reason Yahoo Messenger is not displaying the alerts. Can someone tell me how to resolve this issue.

I set up alerts on yahoo messenger for RSS feeds from digg and techcrunch.?
If you click on the button you can subscribe to the feed in various ways, including by dragging the URL of the RSS feed into your news reader or by cutting and pasting the same URL into a new feed in your news reader.

Most sites that offer RSS feeds use a similar orange RSS button, but some may just have a normal web link to the feed.

Some browsers, including Firefox, Opera and Safari, automatically check for RSS feeds for you when you visit a website, and display an icon when they find one. This can make subscribing to RSS feeds much easier. For more details on these, please check their websites.

For tech blog readers, between mashable, readwriteweb and techcrunch, which do you prefer?

I'm trying to pare down my feeds and those three feeds result in as much as 50 posts a day, all I invariably want to read, but just don't have the time, so I need to remove one or two of them. Mashable has the highest volume, so I'm inclined to remove that one. Any suggestions?

For tech blog readers, between mashable, readwriteweb and techcrunch, which do you prefer?
I'm a big digg.com fan, but it sounds like you don't need another site. But, at the top is a link to the "top in last 24 hours" that gives a great snapshot. You can filter the top 24 by tech news as well.

How much money do tech blogs like Engadget, Techcrunch make?

Any estimates?

How much money do tech blogs like Engadget, Techcrunch make?
How much money sites like this make depends on number of factors. If they are providing information, needed information that will attract visitors, then advertisers will want to use their site to place ads. The ads is where the real money comes from with these types of sites.

Now, if they are providing different types of services, like downloads, music, DVDs and other goodies, they can charge a fee to access the site to use the goodies, and get advertisers to place ads as well. This is the best set up for getting money. To both charge fees to those who come and for ads to be placed by advertisers.

However, it is easier to place information for free to get the largest number of people visiting the site. The larger the site, the more pages linked, the more ads can be placed. This is what most do, make detailed and layered sites that attract many and the ads will pay for all the work they do in placing the information for free. iVillage is a good example.

What Happens If You Download YouTube Videos Using TechCrunch?

I downloaded a YouTube video via TechCrunch, which is then downloaded with the help of Download Accelerator Plus, then I naturally organized it by copying it into another specific folder in My Videos, then renaming it, and deleting the original programme after that. Next, I tried to open the folder in Super, a programme specially designed to encode any video formats into almost any new formats, but none of the downloaded YouTube videos are seen anywhere. What actually happened here and how to fix it?
